My name is Jake Volkman. I am 29 years old and I love to create. I am the father of two daughters, husband of their mother, son of an engineer and a vintner. I married the daughter of an educator and an accountant.
This is my website. I made it because I wanted to learn how. It isn’t perfect, but it gets better every time I update it.
I have a degree in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University. I also acquired minors in Computer Science and Business to prove I can program and also run a business. I learned one of those things from school; I’ll let you figure out which using context clues.
I was raised by an engineer that started his own business and a vintner that started her own business. Surrounded by business deals and ethical dilemmas, I learned that business required 24/7 access to the owner, especially at times when you are on vacation, or need to help family. I quickly sought employment.
Now I work as a technician repairing tools in a manufacturing environment. I learned pretty quickly how to fix electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and computer systems. And I’m still learning all the time. You never really stop learning no matter what you do. Fortunately, I’ve extended this knowledge to as many household devices as I can, and I’ve started offering my services to others willing to work on my schedule. You can of course call a dedicated technician and work on their schedule, but I position myself as a missing middle handyman that can fix things that others aren’t able to.
